Alleviating poverty through empowerment, capacity building, and sustainable development for Kenyan families since 2007.
"Every small action can spark significant change."
DOREP — the Desert Oasis Residents Empowerment Programme — is a registered Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to alleviating poverty through empowerment and capacity building across Kenya.
We provide start-up capital to groups establishing projects in dairy and poultry farming, rabbit and bee keeping, greenhouse farming, and technical advisory services. Our founder, Dr. Philip Mwaura, has earned recognition across East Africa — including from former President Uhuru Kenyatta — for his life-changing work with farmers and communities.
Our vision is to reach 20 million Kenyans by 2030 through sustainable, community-led programmes.
We tackle the root causes of poverty through eight core mission pillars, bringing meaningful change to individuals, families, and entire communities.
Promoting modern farming techniques to rural farmers to enhance food security and sustainable livelihoods.
Equipping communities with skills and knowledge to uplift their lives and build economic independence.
Supporting destitute families, aiding the physically challenged, and caring for the aged and terminally ill.
Establishing credit funds to benefit members, youth groups, and organisations in both rural and urban areas.
Promoting activities aimed at eradicating HIV/AIDS and providing care and support for those affected.
Mending broken families affected by overdrinking, drug abuse, and child neglect through counselling and support.
Teaching faith and religion through Bible study to strengthen community bonds and moral foundations.
Actively campaigning to eliminate jiggers from communities through organised outreach and treatment programmes.
We conduct seminars, workshops, and conferences pertaining to health, education, water, religion, and agricultural needs across Kenya.
Raising, mobilising, and disbursing funds and other resources for the promotion of our mission and community programmes.
Employing advisors, counselors, and expert staff to drive all objectives of the organisation and support sustainable livelihoods.
Collecting and sharing technical materials for research and providing relevant hands-on training across our programme areas.
Mobilising and organising targeted campaigns for jigger eradication, health awareness, and social change across communities.
Providing donors and recipients with full accounting of all costs and expenditures, available for public inspection at any time.
DOREP operates across Kenya through a growing network of regional branches, each led by dedicated local staff committed to serving their communities.
